MARTA & BOLSENA LAKE

Marta's view from BOrgo dei Pescatori

This lake is great because when you arrive you know that it is a lake, but you have sensation to be in the sea. I loved and still love this place that is about 40 minutes far from my hometown, now if you aren't able to go in a REAL holiday you can spend a day or also a week end in Bolsena's lake. 

If you want to have a good fish meal but with affordable price you need to drive a little bit more and arrives in Capodimonte town, here there is a very good restaurant RIVABLU, I loved it not only because the food is delicious but becuase they didn't make problems with my dog. Luckily in the past 2-3 years seems that more local are petfriendly but they are been from several year before.

Usually for a lunch of 3 course plus a normal bill was about €50-60 in total,  there is also an option on menu that can give you a taste of everything it is called "Fiamming", and the cost is really good.

Normally this amount is per person, plus you can choose if stay inside or outside and believe me outside in summer is great because you have view directly on little beach and part of lake.

In Mara town there is another good restaurant, Otello, but it is more expensive and honestly the portion size is too small for the price, plus they aren't been so friendly with my dog, so if we decided to eat fish we went to RIVABLU and then go in Marta's town.

There are a lot of fishermans, and there is a place with a little park that is called "Borgo dei pescatori", where every summer you can find a big groups of kids and family swimming, playing, sunbathing and relaxing, plus in the opposite corner there are a lot of boats, you can fishing in the lake, and in a determinated period there is also a party for the typical fish of this lake.

In summer you can easily find open market with a lot of crafts, antiques, foods from all italy, clothes van and more. It is near the city of Viterbo where you can find a lot of art, history,c ultury and there are good university, most famous is LA TUSCIA.

This is a good option for a daycation and also for a week end, to be honest in Marta seems that owner prefer to rent to foreign for short period and also it is a small town village, during late spring-summer a lot of tourist (especially from Germany) came here to visit,you can don't drive, use only your foots and/or bike, you can do kajak or canoing, use boats (my secret love), plus it is near to Rome and with train you can do also daycation in the country during your vacation.
